The Push Begins!

AAA week is in 2 weeks! It's time to start getting the word out. Here's some of the things the committee has started to do:

1. Public Service Announcements
We've sent these out to FOX, KUT, The Statesman, The Chronicle and others. It's always a gamble when trying to get well cir
culated news sources to get back to you and promote your cause, however FOX seemed excited and eager to cover AmeriCorps' MLK day event back in January. We have a couple of contacts and hopefully they will come through for us again this time.

2. Mass Postcard Distribution
These are being sent out the community to spread the word and get people excited about the upcoming events during the week.

3. Hanging fliers around town. This is what they look like.

4. Social Media
This blog. Follow it.
Join/Follow them too.

5. Word of mouth. There's never enough things you can do to promote an event. You can help out too by spreading the word to fellow AmeriCorps members, your friends and your community.

Next I will post some promotional photos that have been released. More soon.

Hello.

Hello, my name is Matt. I'm an AmeriCorps volunteer and I'm helping plan a huge event called Austin AmeriCorps Awareness Week. Let's go ahead and call it AAA ("triple A") Week. I was asked to join the AAA Committee a few weeks ago, and up until that point, my experience with AmeriCorps had been primarily service related. I saw this as a great opportunity to get a little more closely involved with the administrative side of things.

I've been assigned to keep the world of the internet up to date on the happenings of the forthcoming week. Here goes.

--

Let me bring you up to speed on what's been going on so far:

Who: The AAA Committee
The Committee consists of reps and AmeriCorps members from each program. It's been divided into subcommittees to tackle this event from all angles and aspects. Here's the berakdown:

Food & Donations
Saturday Day of Service
Week of Awareness
Marketing & Promotions

Each of these subcommittees have their own specific goals to complete, and it appears they are right on track.

As the week approaches, I will highlight what these groups are doing and how things are going!
